Hiking Treasure Loop at Lost Dutchman State Park

Posted By on January 14, 2012

In an attempt to more fully integrate ourselves as Arizonians, we are trying to familiarize ourselves with Arizona’s nature beauties. Here are some pictures of us hiking the Treasure Loop, one of many trails, at the Lost Dutchman State Park. It was only about 3 miles, so it went fairly quick. But it sure was nice to get out and breath some clean air.

Technically his birthday isn’t until Monday the ninth, but as far as he is concerned he is 5! And he is not afraid to tell anyone who dares ask. Anyway, how about a few pics from the party?

Hiking the Mormon Loop at South Mountain

Posted By on January 4, 2012

After being cooped up in the house trying to banish the pneumonia that plagued our whole month of December, we ventured out to South Mountain Tuesday morning and met up with the Rodgers family. We haven’t hiked South Mountain before and we were all excited. The weather was beautiful and the hike was refreshing. Just what we needed. It was fantastic! We plan on doing one of these a month and already have a few other places in mind.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

With Christmas finally over and the New Year fast approaching The Bundy’s find themselves surprisingly happy and content. Despite the fact that Santa had to be very conservative this year, no one complained or whined about their gifts. In fact, all of the kids reacted with pleasure and gratitude for what they did get. It was the kind of scene Christmas morning that makes parents proud and thankful for their children. Grandma and Grandpa Bundy were also there in spirit as evident by the photos seen below. Most parents can identify with the picture of Benjamin below coloring on empty boxes. All the toys and all the candy cannot equal a self made, self decorated empty box snake.

I want to fly like an Eagle

So today Bekee stops at a local QuikTrip and walks up to the counter to pay for her purchase. The cashier tells her a total, but seems distracted. Once Bekee walked outside, she saw what was so distracting.

This guy is so into Eagles that he not only had murals of birds on his van, but several ornamental, weird and down-right disturbing plastic birds mounted all over his van. She wasn’t able to snap a picture of the guy though. He was wearing a shirt covered in pictures of Eagles and knee-high boots pulled on over his jeans. He was hardcore.

Bitten off more than we can chew

Posted By on September 22, 2011

So the other day Kena starts to complain about her front tooth really hurting. It was no secret that there was a cavity there, but given our financial status over the years we have been (and by we I really mean me because Bekee is far more willing to sacrifice than I am) reluctant to get the kids into the Dentist. It usually takes a event to prompt a visit. Well that event came and I found myself in the dentists office with Kena just to find out that not only does she have a cavity, but it has infected the root and she will need a root canal. That’s what putting it off regular checkups does to you. It hits you where it really counts, the wallet.

Well they can’t do the root canal that day and so we schedule her to come in on a Saturday. The Friday before, my back molar starts acting up. This is no surprise to me as I have known for quite some time that this tooth was bad. But I wasn’t worried because this tooth has a pattern. It hurts a bit for a few days but I am able to tolerate it with a bit of ibuprofen and some frustration.

Saturday comes along and Kena and I are back at the dentist. Things are going well when suddenly the dentist stops what she is doing and leaves the room in a bit of a rush. When she comes back, she politely informs me that one of the file tools she was using has broken off inside of Kena’s root and she is not able to retrieve it. To make matters worse, she doesn’t know if it will be possible to get it out without major complications including, but not limited to, removing the tooth. She then proceeds to refer me to a specialist and rushes us out of her office. Thankfully, I have already dealt with this particular specialist and have grown to trust his abilities.

By now my tooth is throbbing, but getting Kena taken care of is my top priority. We get to the specialist and in about 20 minutes he has successfully removed the broken tool from Kena’s root. Like I said, the specialist’s abilities far exceed those of the other dentist. Whew, what a relief. Or so I thought.

Because I am selfish and stingy, I need to be humbled regularly. So around 2am Sunday morning, my tooth is hurting so bad that I am unable to sleep. By midday I am swollen and in severe pain. I get so desperate, that begin taking some of Kena’s anti-biotic’s. Monday morning I get into the dentist office just to be told that they do not have time for me and reschedule me to come in on Wednesday. Oh yeah, and the tooth is gonna have to come out. To make a long story just a bit shorter, I went in on Wednesday and within 30 minutes the tooth is pulled without a single complication, save one. Now I am paying for Kena and myself.
